Duane Smets
I fell in love with the water as a kid growing up in San Diego. Surfing, swimming, fishing, free diving, wakeboarding and sailing have been a way of life ever since. Today I love sailing my 1986 Cal 33 and helping others have a fun, safe time on the water.
In 2019, after earning three college degrees and spending 15 years in an entirely different field, I made a major career change. I went back to school to complete my marine surveyor training, and in 2021 I started San Diego Yacht Management, followed by Smets Surveys.
I love being a marine surveyor. Clients find me easy to work with, knowledgeable, and committed to detail, safety and organization.
